MEET The tEAM
TInker POPE
With 23 years of experience in the automotive industry, Tinker brings extensive parts knowledge and a deep commitment to customer care to the Tinkerz Automotive team. She takes pride in providing honest, quality car repairs at a reasonable cost, ensuring her customers feel completely confident in their vehicle service. One of her favorite automotive achievements is her 1996 Mustang Cobra, which she and her husband built together in 2014. Outside of the shop, Tinker loves spending time being a Nana and relaxing by the pool.
Jeff POPE
Jeff is a co-owner of Tinkerz Automotive. Originally from Alabama—Roll Tide!—Jeff has called Texas home since 1989. He is an Army veteran, a proud dad, and a doting grandpa. Jeff has held a lifelong passion for cars and all things mechanical, with hot rods and race cars being among his absolute favorites. Outside of the shop, he enjoys drag racing, racing go-karts with his son, and spending quality time with his grandkids.
sam white
Sam is a Service Advisor at Tinkerz Automotive with 18 years of experience in the automotive industry. He started his career fresh out of high school as a quick lube technician at a Toyota dealership before spending nine years with Goodyear and Firestone selling and installing tires. A certified tire specialist, Sam has completed rigorous training programs through Goodyear, Firestone, and Christian Brothers Automotive. His absolute favorite vehicle is the iconic R34 Nissan Skyline. Outside of the shop, Sam enjoys watching sports, going out with friends, and spending time with animals. His favorite part of the job is interacting with clients daily, making complex car repairs easy to understand, and ensuring every customer leaves satisfied. Favorite Quote: “Will you just look at it?!”
DOC ZYLKA
Doc brings an impressive 40 years of experience in the automotive industry to the Tinkerz Automotive team. An expert in advanced diagnostics and general repairs, he has earned numerous ASE certifications throughout his distinguished career. Taking deep pride in his honesty and meticulous attention to detail, Doc is dedicated to keeping every customer’s vehicle safe, reliable, and performing at its best. His favorite part of the job is solving complex diagnostic puzzles, mentoring others, and ensuring clients get safely back on the road. Outside of the shop, Doc enjoys attending car shows, embracing the lake life, and riding motorcycles. His all-time favorite vehicles are classic Tri-Five Chevys.
ZACH THOMPSON
Zach brings a strong passion for automotive performance to the Tinkerz Automotive team. Specializing in suspension repair, custom upgrades, and aftermarket performance modifications, he thrives on helping drivers get the absolute most out of their vehicles. Outside of the shop, Zach is an avid fan of auto racing and water sports. His favorite vehicle is the classic 1971–1973 split-bumper Camaro—a legendary muscle car that perfectly reflects his appreciation for both aggressive style and raw performance. Favorite Quote: “You’re not working if you enjoy what you do.”
Nick Trapani
Nick Trapani is an Automotive Technician at Tinkerz Automotive and brings over 15 years of experience in the automotive industry. Originally from Louisiana, Nick comes from the dealership world and brings valuable knowledge and hands-on experience to the team. Nick is a proud dad of twin boys. Outside of work, he enjoys riding his bike and playing with RC cars. He is also an avid LSU fan. As part of the Tinkerz team, Nick is dedicated to helping keep customers’ vehicles safe, reliable, and running their best.
alex pope
Alex has been working in a professional shop setting for two years, bringing a phenomenal work ethic and an eager willingness to learn to the Tinkerz Automotive team. Outside of the shop, Alex enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their animals. An avid racer, he proudly won the 2024 Track Championship in his go-karting class! He also keeps his eyes on the skies with big goals for the future, aspiring to become a licensed pilot someday. For Alex, the absolute best part of working at Tinkerz Automotive is the incredible camaraderie and truly feeling like a valued part of the team.
ally ober
Originally from Pennsylvania, Ally moved to Denton in September 2025. While she is new to the automotive trade, she brings years of invaluable customer service experience to the front desk and loves making sure every client feels genuinely welcome and well taken care of. Outside of the shop, Ally is a massive animal lover—managing a busy household of 26 beloved pets! When she isn't caring for her animals, she enjoys relaxing and spending quality time with her boyfriend. She also loves to crochet and has a little shop set up in the office here at Tinkerz, so be sure to check out her handmade creations next time you stop by for service!
